What Is Metabolic Syndrome?
Excerpt From The Course
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of metabolic abnormalities that occur together, increasing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. It is estimated that metabolic syndrome affects around 25% of the adult population worldwide, and its prevalence is increasing due to the rising rates of obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and poor dietary habits.

The risk factors for metabolic syndrome include age, obesity, physical inactivity, genetic predisposition, and certain medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome, sleep apnea, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Insulin resistance is considered a primary underlying factor for metabolic syndrome, as it leads to dyslipidemia, hypertension, and inflammation.

The causes of insulin resistance are complex and multifactorial. They include genetic factors, environmental factors (such as poor dietary habits and sedentary lifestyle), and hormonal imbalances (such as increased cortisol levels and decreased adiponectin levels).

You can read much more about Insulin Resistance, with more in depth knowledge and how to treat it in my other courses.

Understanding the underlying pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome is important in identifying and managing this condition. Insulin resistance leads to elevated blood glucose levels, which stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin. Over time, the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas may become exhausted, leading to impaired insulin secretion and further worsening of insulin resistance.

Dyslipidemia is another hallmark feature of metabolic syndrome, characterized by elevated levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and decreased levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This lipid profile is associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. This is what we call a Pattern B lipid profile and is high risk.

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is also a common feature of metabolic syndrome, and it may be related to insulin resistance and dyslipidemia. Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress may also contribute to the development of hypertension.

Overall, a better understanding of the risk factors, causes, and pathophysiology of metabolic syndrome can help healthcare providers to identify and manage this condition more effectively, reducing the risk of complications and improving health outcomes for affected individuals.

Who Is This Course For?

Everybody!

If you are not happy with how you look, feel or move, then you probably have Metabolic Syndrome. Some of the most prominent symptoms and signs of Metabolic Syndrome are:

Overweight and Obesity

And a big belly. If you have an abdominal circumference (around the belly button) above 90cm (female) and 100cm (male) you almost certainly have Metabolic Syndrome.

Low Libido and Sexual Dysfunction

On a purely biological level human beings are meant to want to have sex. Warning signs like Erectile Dysfunction may mean there's something very wrong with your health.

Feeling Horrible

Society has convinced us that it's normal to feel pretty terrible all the time. Tired and lethargic, no energy, and just 'meh' our whole lives. It's NOT! It's poor health.

    On Metabolic Syndrome

    What is Metabolic Syndrome?

It's a collection of issues, rather than a discrete diagnosis, but almost always encompases overweight or obesity, high blood pressure, derranged cholesterol, high abdominal circumference and insulin resistance.

What kind of issues does Metabolic Syndrome cause?

Obesity, high blood pressure, sexual dysfunction in particular erectile dysfunction, low libido, poor mental health, feeling sluggish and lethargic, and just generally feeling terrible.

Can't I just diet this way?

No you can't! Sure you could lose weight, for a while, but like all diets it will inevitably fail, and just like almost all 'diets' they don't actually improve your health at all, and you will still have all the issues.

What's the best way to get rid of Metabolic Syndrome

We cover this in the course! The best way though is through appropriate lifestyle advice - that is, a proper diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, mental health support and physical activity changes. We cover all this!

    Can Carnivore Diet fix this?

Absolutely. In fact carnivore diet is one of the best ways to get rid of metabolic syndrome. If you want then definitely consider signing up here, but there's more to it than diet alone.

Why should I enrol in the Master Class?

A great question, especially considering the eBook is a fraction of the price. However the Master Class is much more detailed with video lectures, Q&A, expanded topics, more infographics and so on. It's much better.
